Pakistan Tours Limited (PTL) & PTDC Transport Services
PTL, a subsidiary of PTDC is working as a pioneer tour operating agency and is responsible for organizing tours/arrangements of transport and accommodation for foreign and domestic tourists in Pakistan. PTDC is operating transport services between Pak-China border on Karakoram Highway (KKH) from Sost (Pakistan) to Taxkurgan (China), between Pakistan and India, i.e. Lahore-Delhi-Lahore, Lahore-Amritsar-Lahore and Nankana Sahib-Amritsar-Nankana Sahib for the convenience of local and foreign visitors. Plans are underway to start more international routes between Pakistan and Afghanistan and between Pakistan and Iran. PTDC’s transport is also hired out to foreign and domestic individual and group tourists.

BUS SERVICES BETWEEN PAKISTAN AND INDIA

In order to faciliate road travel between Pakistan and India, bus service between Lahore (Pakistan) and Delhi (India) was started on 16th March 1999 under an agreement between the two countries. The Service was suspended on 31st December 2001. After a gape of over two years, the Service was restored on 11th July 2003. With the passage of time, two more services between Pakistan and India (Lahore-Amritsar from 20th January, 2006 and Nankana Sahib-Amritsar from 28th March, 2006) have been started.

Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has been entrusted by the Government of Pakistan to operate the Pakistani Bus, whereas Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) operates the Indian Bus on these routes as per following schedule;

Lahore-Delhi Bus Service (LDBS)

This service starts from PTDC LDBS Terminal in Lahore located at 66-D/1 Gulberg-III, near Liberty Market (Tel:042-5755940 & 5875359) and terminates at Dr. Ambedhar Terminal near Delhi Gate, Delhi (Tel: 011-2331810 & 23712228). The buses leave simultaneously from both the terminals at 06:00 hours (local time) on every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Arrival time is around 17:30 hours (local time). One way fare is Pak.Rs.2000/- (or equivalent in Indian Rupees) per person which includes breakfast, lunch and evening tea enroute. Children below 12 years of age are charged Pak. Rs.1500/- per child. Free baggage upto 20 kg per adult and 10 kg per child is allowed. Excess baggage is charged @ Rs.70/- per kg. 

Lahore-Amritsar Bus Service (LABS)

The Lahore terminal for LABS is the same as for LDBS, whereas in Amritsar (India), it is located at the International Bus Terminal, G.T. Road (Tel:0183-2587070). The buses leave simultaneously from both the terminals at 09:00 hours on every Wednesday and Friday. The buses reach their destinations at around 12:00 noon on the same day. One way fare is Pak. Rs. 900/- per person and Rs.600 per child. Excess baggage is charged @ Rs.30 per kg.

Nankana Sahib-Amritsar Bus Service (NABS)

The NABS starts from PTDC Terminal near the Main Gate, Gurdwara Janam Asthan, Railway Road, Nankana Sahib (Tel: 0562-876780) and terminates at the International Bus Terminal, G.T. Road Amritsar (Tel:0183-2587070). The bus leaves from Nankana Sahib at 08:00 hours (Pakistan time) on every Tuesday and Saturday and arrives Amritsar at around 13:30 hours (India time). Departure from Amritsar is on every Wednesday and Friday. One way fare is Rs.1200/- per person and Rs.800/- per child. Excess baggage is charged @ Rs.50/- per kg.
